Microsoft Access databases (classic)
...enable the digital management of any business data, e.g. in the sense of a customer database, product database, inventory database, project database, profile database or or or! User input is validated and rejected if necessary to guarantee 100% data integrity - unlike Excel. Data is entered, validated, saved and can be searched, displayed and analyzed. All at lightning speed because Access has database features such as SQL and indexing despite its compactness. As the "icing on the cake", modern, convenient Access forms promote rapid user acceptance and, in combination with the short development time, Access databases can be up and running in no time at all. And best of all: Access offers a complete ecosystem out-of-the-box (database, forms, reports, etc.), requires neither database servers nor third-party software and offers unbeatable development and operating costs - which makes Access unique. And if things get more demanding, the entire Microsoft Office package is available: e.g. for an Excel pivot chart, a Word mail merge or an Outlook newsletter. And even if the amount of data should explode into gigabytes over the years and overwhelm Access, there is a solution: Access databases can be quickly and easily connected to database servers such as Microsoft SQL Server, even retrospectively.
In summary: Access databases digitize databases even without a complex IT infrastructure and make data management more error-free, faster, cheaper and more convenient - with minimal development time and costs compared to other database systems.
Microsoft Access databases (intelligent)
...can not "only" manage data, but thanks to individual VBA programming, prepare and process it as required and thus fully automate business processes in the best case: for example, a service charge database that performs complex calculations, pulls address data from Outlook / Exchange, generates a service charge statement as a Word document for each recipient, creates a corresponding number of PDFs and sends them by e-mail. Or a personnel database that imports time recording data in real time from Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) or Oracle. Or a CRM database that generates individual, personal newsletters based on the newsletter registrations in the MySQL database of an online store on a PHP web server and sends them by e-mail. There's no such thing as impossible! Intelligent Access databases automate business processes and make them more error-free, more reproducible, faster and more cost-efficient - without database servers, without third-party software, without licenses.
Microsoft Access databases (plus .NET, C#, WPF)
...are powerful database programming according to specifications, customized for your data & processes on the basis of .NET Framework, WPF, C# and Microsoft Access. Just like classic Access solutions (see above), they use .accdb files as reliable data storage, but unlike these, they set no limits to the imagination: anything is possible! The user interface is developed in WPF, the business logic is implemented in .NET C# - currently the most powerful programming framework available. Access databases based on Microsoft .NET and C# are installed conveniently and securely via Windows Installer, but can also be deployed via a software distribution system (SMS) for hundreds or thousands of workstations.
Microsoft Access web databases
...are also possible using Microsoft SharePoint and are often used for typical intranet databases such as newsboards, internal company job portals, canteen menus, vacation calendars etc., which can therefore only be used from within the company's own network and are blocked for anonymous access.
For purebred Internet databases, on the other hand, which potentially have to cope with an infinite number of partially anonymous users, we recommend more suitable solutions such as an ASP.NET database or PHP database. The same also applies, of course, if SharePoint cannot or should not be used.
Microsoft Access exports
...are data exports from Microsoft Access to external data storage, typically for further processing in external applications. Smaller data sets are often exported to Excel workbooks, XML or CSV files, while larger data sets tend to be exported to relational database servers such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL). Once in the target system, the Access data can be processed there in almost any way or distributed to other applications. Access supports simple exports such as to Excel workbooks by default, but technically complex exports such as via SOAP web service or JSON can be added using VBA macros.
Microsoft Access imports
...are data imports from external data sources such as Excel workbooks, MSSQL servers or Exchange or Outlook calendars directly into Microsoft Access, typically for the purpose of data evaluation - without the effort and inevitable input errors of a manual work process. Access supports simple imports from Excel workbooks or similar by default, but technically demanding imports, e.g. with intelligent data synchronization for the purpose of data merging or synchronization, can be implemented and integrated using VBA programming.
Microsoft Access interfaces
...are connections from Microsoft Access to external applications such as Microsoft Outlook or Exchange, e.g. for the purpose of sending e-mails, comparing absences or synchronizing calendars. Unlike imports/exports (see above), Access data is exchanged bidirectionally and compared or synchronized with each other depending on the scenario. For this purpose, the relevant host applications such as Microsoft Access and Excel, Outlook or MS Project, for example, are integrated directly via COM (or similar) for interfaces so that they can "talk" to each other.
Microsoft Access continuation projects
...are aimed at transferring existing databases, macros or other Access solutions to eWorks, typically in order to make their further development more cost-efficient, more professional or more reliable. Typical scenarios include the professionalization of previously hobbyist-developed solutions, the acceleration of further development or the compensation of personnel shortfalls. We receive the solution including source code and a brief introduction, set up a ticket system, source code management, demonstration system, etc., create the desired client accesses and off we go! A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is of course no problem. And if you want to bring the development back in-house one day, that's no problem either: only the source code is temporarily transferred to eWorks, not the rights to it. If.
Microsoft Access migration projects
...are special continuation projects involving the updating of outdated, possibly even dysfunctional Access databases and VBA macros to current versions such as Access 2016 or 2019. We analyze the affected database(s), develop an individual migration concept, clarify all possible solutions and jointly define the measures to be implemented. On request, we can "only" ensure that the database is functioning properly, or we can also take this opportunity to bring forms and reports up to date - small renovations for acute improvements are just as possible as core renovations. Compared to a new development, significant cost savings can often be achieved in this way - although sometimes demolition and new construction are the best solution. Either way: Your Access database regains its functionality and shines in new splendor.
Microsoft Access support ("extended workbench")
...is different from all the above projects in the sense that it is about your continuous support around Microsoft Access via e-mail and telephone by an experienced senior developer, quasi "on call". Consequently, neither a specification sheet nor a contract for work is drawn up, but only a service contract as a rather loose framework agreement. The specific work orders ("tickets"), on the other hand, are only discussed and priced as soon as they arise: Day by day, ticket by ticket. No basic fee, no minimum purchase, no notice period: you only pay for what you use - software development like electricity from the socket. Minor changes and problem fixes are usually completed on the same working day, larger ones depending on the scope. We are available Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and beyond that by arrangement. We support you around Microsoft Access & VBA - but if necessary, you can draw from the full range: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Azure, .NET Core, C#, ASP.NET, WPF, UWP, SharePoint, MSSQL, PHP, TYPO3, Zend, Symfony, OXID, Shopware, jQuery, MySQL and much more - with eWorks from a single source! We scale with your needs: from a few hours to tens of man-days per month. Your extended workbench for what we love: programming.
