Website optimization and website support for the German Nutrition Society (DGE)
TYPO3 upgrade and accessibility: DGE takes the next step in online communication
As part of our collaboration with the German Nutrition Society (DGE), we were commissioned with the optimization and technical support of five specialist pages on the topic of health-promoting and sustainable communal catering. The focus was on upgrading the TYPO3 multifunctional site from version 7.6 LTS to version 11.5 LTS, including the necessary adjustments to the TYPO3 extensions used and ensuring accessibility in accordance with the requirements of the Barrier-free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0).
This included comprehensive support for the multifunctional website, including TYPO3 programming to ensure that the content is equally accessible to all users. Existing content and functions were optimized and adapted. Usability tests were carried out to ensure that the website was not only accessible but also intuitive to use and met the needs of the target group. This process made it possible to identify and eliminate potential weaknesses.
Another focus is on ensuring responsive design. By adapting the website to different screen sizes and devices, users have an optimal experience regardless of their device.
A general challenge with TYPO3 updates and customizations is the conversion of TYPO3 extensions, which are either self-written or freely available. These are not always compatible with the version statuses and therefore have to be reprogrammed or sometimes even completely reprogrammed. TYPO3 updates with programming work are therefore an important focus of our TYPO3 services.
As part of the project, an online training course was held to impart the knowledge required to maintain the content independently. Detailed instructions on how to use TYPO3 support those responsible in effectively maintaining and regularly updating the website.
