Webshop creation of edelstahlschrauben-mädels.de
OXID programming of a B2B store for stainless steel fasteners
Wagener & Simon WASI GmbH & Co. KG, a Würth Group company, commissioned eWorks with the conception, design and implementation of an online store for stainless steel fasteners. Special attention was paid to a young, fresh and humorous appearance, which was to be realized through many photos, a warm color scheme and the store name Edelstahlschrauben-Mädels. The Enterprise Edition of OXID eShop was used.
In the first project phase, eWorks created the design of the web shop in close consultation with the client. The aim was to create a playful and relaxed design, which is unusual for the industry, but still has clear structures and allows the store customer to navigate quickly to the desired product. The client provided eWorks with humorous photographs, which were incorporated into the overall concept of the online store, resulting in an Internet store with a personal and friendly appearance. The design was then prepared for use in the store, optimized for search engines (SEO) and finally integrated into the Edelstahlschrauben-Mädels store with the help of Smarty templates.
To support online payments directly in the store, the pre-installed payment methods were expanded to include PayPal, credit card, Sofortüberweisung and Giropay. In addition, the OXID eShop was connected to the price search engines idealo.de, guenstiger.de and billiger.de in order to reach the largest possible potential group of buyers.
eWorks programmed a number of OXID modules to extend the functionality of the store as delivered. This enabled the store operator to define so-called "enhancements" for individual products. These are, for example, special coatings for screws that the buyer can select. Furthermore, address management has been expanded so that customers can create and edit multiple billing addresses and select them for orders. In addition, the ordering process has been expanded to include a selection option for partial deliveries if not all of the items ordered are available for immediate delivery.
eWorks not only implemented these directly visible store enhancements, but also carried out some rather invisible interventions under the hood of OXID eShop. The large number of possible combinations of material, length and diameter resulted in a large number of products and product variants. This made performance optimizations necessary in order to be able to process the huge amount of data in such a way that the end customer receives a fast and easy-to-use store frontend. Furthermore, eWorks integrated the SOAP ERP interface for OXID eShop and supported the connection of the store to Microsoft Dynamics NAV (formerly Navision).
In October 2012, www.edelstahlschrauben-mädels.de went live as planned. Following the go-live, eWorks supports the store operator, provides advice, steps in where necessary and carries out functional enhancements from time to time.
