Web merchandise management programming for inventory management

Development of a warehouse management system including store interface and stock valuation for a webshop with PHP & MySQL

On behalf of "S & R Edelmetalle GmbH" (Dresden), eWorks has expanded an existing online store with an individually developed, web-based merchandise management system that makes it possible to obtain an overview of the company's stocks in the simplest possible way.

The inventory management software was developed on the basis of the open source platforms PHP and MySQL. The application is operated via a convenient web frontend, which can be used to manage all purchases, deliveries, purchases and so-called "corrections" (e.g. cancellations) easily and securely. The data integration of the inventory management with the web store is carried out using a MySQL interface specially programmed for this purpose for data import and export: all relevant article data and transaction data from the web store and inventory management are compared and synchronized several times a day. The particular challenge was to develop the data synchronization with such high performance and robustness that the inventory management always has up-to-date data, but the operation of the online store is not impaired in any way. In order to evaluate the collected business data, a stock evaluation was programmed that uses a simple consumption sequencing method to evaluate stock in real time.

Following development, the completed software solution was handed over to the client in source code and installed "turnkey" on the target system. Following the handover and installation, eWorks is available to the client for the elimination of defects (warranty) and for the implementation of functional enhancement requests (?change requests?). Since then, the client's employees have been successfully using the developed web application to enter stock movements and manage inventory.
