Support in setting up web-based groupware software

Our customer designed and implemented a web-based groupware with email and messaging functions as well as appointment, task and note management. The system was implemented in Java on the basis of J2EE technology with servlets for the web front end and Enterprise Java Beans (EJB) as component technology for the application logic.

Due to resource bottlenecks on the customer's developer side, we were called in to design and implement the scheduling management area independently. Important features of the scheduling module were the display of group members' appointments alongside their own appointments, various views, consideration of public holidays and a rudimentary implementation of series elements.

The work was carried out in the customer's offices on Sun Ray thin clients, which were connected to a central server. JBuilder 5 was used as the development platform. The particular problem was the enormous time pressure to guarantee the completion of the groupware.
