Store planning and realization with OXID eShop and ONIX

The service company of the German Taxpayers Association, "BdSt Steuerzahler Service GmbH", has commissioned eWorks to plan and develop the BdSt Onlineshop Internet store.

The previous online store was replaced by the new store as it could no longer meet the increased requirements in terms of product range diversity and product presentation.

The realization of the Internet store began in 2006 and was carried out independently but in close consultation with the client. Interim results were presented for review and the feedback received was incorporated. The technical implementation was based on the store software OXID eShop from OXID esales AG in order to achieve maximum reliability, functionality and usability with the given budget. eWorks is an OXID partner and ordered, adapted, expanded and installed the standard software. eWorks used the graphic redesign of the existing store system as the starting point for a completely new design. The aim was to make the new store look more modern and aesthetically pleasing, while retaining the recognition effect for existing customers and club members.

Alongside the implementation, a data exchange format was agreed between eWorks and the supplier Haufe in order to import article master data, prices and graphics into the store. This data exchange format was realized on the basis of the ONIX standard and adapted to the special requirements by means of extended fields.

For future changes to the product range, eWorks has developed a process to carry out the data import regularly and automatically in order to keep products and prices up to date. The implementation was preceded by a planning phase in which eWorks advised the client on questions of store product presentation and technical implementation. Further marketing ideas for the long-term further development of the store were worked out in joint brainstorming sessions.

As part of the further development, a redesign of the store was commissioned, which was implemented by eWorks at the beginning of 2011.
