Store creation of Boomstore.de with OXID eShop
OXID programming of a high-performance store
On behalf of and in cooperation with Boomstore GmbH & Co. KG to design and develop the online store of the same name, Boomstore.de, a web store for entertainment and household electronics products.
Boomstore is the winner of the "Shop Usability Award 2012" and the "Golden Cart Award 2013".
We are delighted with Boomstore about the two coveted awards:
- Shortly after its launch, Boomstore.de received the "Shop Usability Award 2012" at the K5 Conference (Munich) on September 20, 2012. Out of around 300 stores in 13 categories, Boomstore.de was named the most user-friendly online store in the "Hardware, software and consumer electronics" category. - On May 16, 2013, Boomstore.de received the "OXID Best Solution Award" at the "OXID Commons 2012": the "Golden Cart Award 2013" in the "Online Pure Player" category. See also http://www.oxid-commons.de.
The objective was to create a modern online store that stands out from competitor stores thanks to its innovative usability and young design. The Enterprise Edition of OXID eShop was used as the basis for the store. As an official OXID partner, eWorks took over the installation as well as the customization and expansion of OXID eShop.
In addition to the pre-installed payment methods, eWorks integrated credit card payment via Heidelpay and payment via PayPal using OXID eFire portlets. A SOAP connection to the Commerz Finanz GmbH interface was also implemented, enabling store customers to choose financing with different terms for their purchases.
Special attention was paid to the performance of the store. eWorks developed an extension for OXID's own page caching mechanism and thus enabled the connection to the "Memcache" caching server in order to be able to deliver the majority of pages even faster. To enable customers to navigate the store quickly, AJAX navigation was developed to replace conventional navigation throughout the store. The FACT-Finder search was used for an optimal search experience.
Furthermore, the store was connected to the eFulfilment Platform ("eFP") of eFulfilment Transaction Services GmbH. This web-based ERP system not only serves as a merchandise management system for the online store, but also enables the integration of various other sales channels in its function as a multi-channel system. The connection of the eFP was realized via the "OXD ERP SOAP/CSV-Connector".
A further special feature is the facilitation of so-called "social commerce" through the embedding of Facebook comments as well as the Facebook "Like" button and the Google "+1" button. Particular attention was paid to data protection: No data is sent to Facebook or Google without the explicit consent of store visitors, as the Google and Facebook buttons must first be activated before the actual sharing can take place (in accordance with the heise concept "2 clicks for more data protection").
