Programming a Word template for invoices
Development of a self-calculating Word invoice template
Detego GmbH (Hamburg) issues invoices to its customers in the form of Microsoft Word documents. For the convenient creation of invoices, eWorks was commissioned to develop a self-calculating Word document template that creates invoices that are valid for business purposes and saves time at the same time.
Word template development began with the visual design of the template, which the client wanted to be based on the existing document template. For this reason, further Word programming was based on the existing template, which was edited for this purpose and some selection fields were added. For ease of use, the invoice template was also given its own tab in the Word ribbon.
The main requirement for the document template was the automatic and correct calculation of entered invoice items. With the help of programmed VBA macros, the Word calculation formulas were extended in such a way that they are regularly updated and adapted to the invoice items entered. To simplify the entry of invoice items, buttons have been added to the Word menu that allow users to insert pre-filled invoice items at the desired position with a click of the mouse.
eWorks supported its client from the conception of the invoice template to Word VBA programming and implementation. Since then, Detego GmbH has been using the new invoice template for the convenient creation of new invoices, benefiting from simultaneous time and cost savings. Following commissioning, eWorks is available to its client for questions regarding operation, troubleshooting (warranty) or any change requests.
