Outlook programming of an e-mail archive

Development of a Microsoft Outlook tool with VBA

Ätzwerk GmbH from Munich specializes in printed circuit boards in express service and commissioned eWorks to program an Outlook extension for quick and easy e-mail archiving. The objective was to be able to save any Outlook folder full of e-mails to a network drive at the click of a mouse and restore them from there.

Outlook was developed through VBA programming of corresponding Outlook macros and an expansion of the Outlook menu ribbon to include several new buttons for calling up e-mail backup or recovery with a mouse click. In order to make the application as simple and user-friendly as possible without the need for training, no interaction has been required: Outlook folders and emails are automatically stored in the file system and named meaningfully based on their names, subject lines and date stamps.

eWorks supported its client in an advisory capacity from the start of the project, then carried out the Outlook VBA programming and helped with the installation and commissioning of the Outlook solution developed. Afterwards, eWorks is available to its client for any error reports (warranty) or possible change requests.
