NanoSkills - training new skills for new jobs

Continuing education through eLearning in nanotechnology

The aim of the NanoSkills project is to support the development of qualifications in the field of nanotechnology by providing engineers and technicians with e-learning opportunities.

The focus is on creating transparency in this area and taking vocational training into account.

The project is intended to help vocational training institutions, universities, small and medium-sized enterprises and professional associations to assess future qualification needs, incorporate company knowledge into course designs (as called for in the "New Skills for New Jobs" initiative) and develop special courses to expand knowledge in the field of nanoelectronics.

As part of a task analysis, the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies in the field of nanotechnology engineering were defined, which were to be worked on as part of the project. Based on this, several eLearning courses for training in the field of nanotechnology were developed. Each course was created by the respective project partner who had the most expertise in the subject area and the necessary infrastructure for practical implementation.

eWorks was responsible for the further development of the eLearning platform, the maintenance of the project website based on TYPO3 and support with multimedia course authoring and was able to provide active support to the partners.

NanoSkills - Training new skills for the new jobs in nanotechnologies

The NanoSkills project is intended to support the development of sectoral qualifications system and frameworks by definition of qualifications of engineers and technicians in nanotechnologies in terms of learning outcomes to promote transparency and recognition of vocational education and training.

The project brought together vocational education training providers (VETs), higher education institutions (HEs), small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and professional organizations (POs) to assess future skills needs and promote business input into course design, as stated in the "New Skills for New Jobs" initiative and to develop special courses for upgrading knowledge in the sector of nanoelectronics technologies.

Through job analysis the necessary knowledge, skills and competences in nanotechnology engineering were defined. For the learning outcomes several courses for the new skills in nanotechnology training have been developed. Each course was designed by the best laboratory/department in the field which dispose with the necessary infrastructure and facilities for practical work.

eWorks was responsible for extending the elearning platform, to manage the project website developed in TYPO3 and to support the multimedia course authoring in cooperation with the project partners.
