Content management system for an existing website

LearnAct! GmbH Unternehmensentwicklung" commissioned eWorks with the conversion of their website to use a CMS ("Content Management System") with a subsequent visual redesign.

At that time, "LearnAct! GmbH Unternehmensentwicklung" had an extensive website based on static HTML files that had grown in structure. Over the years, the countless HTML files and the numerous forms have increased the maintenance effort more and more, and stood more and more in the way of a timely update of the website. Incorrect links, inconsistent (text) layout and simply outdated or even missing content were the result.

Together with the client, eWorks analyzed their needs with regard to the content to be presented (products, services, company, employees, ...), range of functions (newsletter registration, print function, "interest portfolio", ...) and maintenance requirements of the website.

eWorks developed a concept for the conversion of the website based on the CMS PortalEngine in order to meet the requirements for prompt "in-place" maintenance of the website. The concept also included the use of the UserEngine user management system to enable the website to be updated by authorized employees of the client through a fine-grained rights system.

Since the handover, the client has managed its content independently and without the help of eWorks. The use of the PortalEngine makes it possible to significantly increase the up-to-dateness of the website with less effort.
