VBA development of Excel macros for invoicing

The Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts (HfMDK) commissioned eWorks to develop an Excel invoice generator for the automatic creation of invoices. The objective was to combine an existing request management system with a newly developed, fully automated invoice generation system.

The software development began with a migration of the (already existing) inquiry management into an automatable Excel workbook, from which the necessary invoice details can be read out programmatically in future. The (also already existing) Microsoft Word invoice template was then revised so that it could automatically record and display invoice details from the Excel folder. Finally, Excel VBA programming was used to develop the actual invoice generator in the form of VBA macros, which can create a complete invoice as a Word document with a single mouse click. For fast and error-free operation, all the necessary control elements were integrated into the Excel ribbon, which Excel users are already familiar with from their everyday work.

eWorks supported its client in the implementation of this Excel tool right from the start of the project: starting with the planning, through the Excel 2013 programming of the necessary VBA macros, the Word development of the invoice template, to the handover and commissioning of the completed Office solution. Following the installation, eWorks is available to its client for operating questions, any error reports (warranty) and possible expansion requests for the Excel solution.
