Excel programming of a working time recording system
Creation of an Excel table for time recording incl. VBA programming
The Hansen bakery (Wrixum on Föhr), an artisan bakery with 5 branches on the island of Föhr (in the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site), commissioned eWorks as Excel specialists with the VBA programming of an Excel tool that enables the central and secure recording of working hours for all employees. In addition to making time recording as user-friendly as possible, the main objective was to automatically generate reports on the working hours of all employees.
The Excel programming was based on an existing and proven Excel spreadsheet from the client, which had previously been used as an employee timesheet. In particular, the layout of the new Excel solution was also based on this Excel sheet in order to generate a maximum recognition effect and save avoidable training - although it was refreshed and adapted to the client's corporate design.
The Excel tool developed automatically generates a complete monthly overview from daily time records, which differentiates between working days, Sundays and public holidays, absences (illness, vacation, etc.) and special entries, breaks down recorded hours by employee and displays them clearly. In a compact employee database, employee master data can be maintained quickly and easily, including not only employee names but also target hours and any balance transfers.
The application is completed by an automated Excel evaluation, which informs all employees on a daily basis about the actual and target hours worked and shows the corresponding overtime or undertime. Depending on the employee's wishes, the report is either sent automatically as a PDF by e-mail or alternatively as a printout by post.
eWorks supported its client in the implementation of the Excel tool right from the start of the project: from planning and Excel macro programming using VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) to the handover and commissioning of the completed Excel solution. Following the installation, eWorks is available to its client as an Excel expert for operating questions, any error reports (warranty) and possible expansion requests for the Excel spreadsheet.
