Support of business processes with PHP and Laravel

Kaufmann GmbH commissioned eWorks 2022 to develop an ERP system tailored to the needs of a service company. The aim of the software solution to be developed was to digitally map existing processes in the company, thereby enabling them to be carried out more efficiently.

The core element of the software solution developed is the activity-based recording of working times. The function enables Kaufmann GmbH employees to record their activities and the working hours spent on them directly in digital form. This eliminates the need to record times on individual timesheets and transfer analog data into digital form. Digital recording enables invoices to be issued to customers more quickly and avoids errors when entering and transferring time data.

The software product developed was implemented as a web-based solution so that it does not require installation on workstations and can be used across platforms and by several users simultaneously. In addition, the interface was designed in such a way that it can also be used on mobile devices (smartphones). This makes it possible for employees to easily record their activities and working hours on their smartphones at any time, regardless of where they are working. All server-side logic was implemented in the PHP framework Laravel, taking into account modern industry standards.

Based on the initial implementation of time recording, the software has since been expanded to include many other functions. These include functions for creating quotations, warehouse management, material ordering and price calculation. By realizing the software as an individual solution, it was possible to map the company processes completely according to customer requirements without being restricted by a predefined structure of standard software.

eWorks supported Kaufmann GmbH throughout the entire project cycle, from the initial conception to the going live of version 1.0.0. After going live, the software was expanded to include many functions that go beyond pure time recording. eWorks is in an agile exchange with the client in order to continuously optimize the functionality of already mapped processes and to map additional processes via the software.
