Creation of Word templates in corporate design

Microsoft Word template creation including VBA macro programming

The Münster-based design and communications agency KopfKunst commissioned eWorks, a Microsoft Word specialist, to create Word templates for a public law institution. The objective was to develop "intelligent" Word templates for the quick and easy creation of Word documents in the client's corporate design.

The technical basis for this Word template development were graphic design drafts of the Word templates created by KopfKunst. These drafts were technically prepared by eWorks, converted into Word document templates and then fine-tuned together with KopfKunst until all requirements were finally met.

The template development was followed by the Word VBA programming of the "intelligent" additional functions. For example, an input mask that conveniently captures all report data and automatically enters it into the Word document - error-proof and in line with the corporate design. Or quick-insert buttons for CD-compliant table design at the click of a mouse. Or direct access to all important format templates directly in the Word ribbon to design any content in a CD-compliant way. Or even text modules that can be inserted quickly using the Word ribbon - perfect in terms of content and appearance. The templates are rounded off by a customized Word ribbon that makes all frequently used Word functions immediately accessible.

A Microsoft Excel tool for automatic diagram generation has been developed to accompany the Word document templates. The diagram tool makes it possible to create ready-made diagrams at the click of a mouse - only the data to be visualized needs to be inserted. You can choose from various chart types that automatically conform to the corporate design. The visual design of the diagrams was also created by the client, while the technical implementation was carried out by eWorks using Microsoft Excel 2010 and VBA programming.

eWorks provided KopfKunst with comprehensive support in the development of the Word templates and the Excel solution: starting with the planning, through the creation of the Microsoft Office templates and professional programming of the VBA macros, to the handover and commissioning of the completed Office solutions. Following the installation, eWorks KopfKunst is available for operating questions, any error reports (warranty) and possible expansion requests for the Office tool.
