Creation of Word templates for label printing

Microsoft Word template creation and Word VBA programming

Raffinerie Heide GmbH (Heide), Germany's northernmost crude oil processor from Schleswig-Holstein, commissioned eWorks as a service provider for the creation of Word templates with the development of label templates in order to be able to create and print folder labels more quickly and easily in the future. The objective was to create two Microsoft Word 2010 document templates for different folder widths, which are characterized by an appealing and consistent layout as well as a pleasant and error-proof usability and require no employee training.

The templates were created in close consultation with the client in order to take their design and functionality requirements into account in the best possible way. Following the creation, design and approval of the first template, the second template was derived from it. To make operation as convenient and efficient as possible, all label areas to be labeled were implemented using Word content controls so that users can "just type away". As the icing on the cake, VBA macro programming was used to develop a font size adjustment function that automatically adjusts the font size depending on the number of characters: the limited space on folder labels is thus always optimally utilized.

eWorks supported its client in the creation of Word templates right from the start of the project: from the planning stage, through template creation with Word 2010 and VBA programming of the Word macros, to the handover and acceptance of the completed Office templates. After the installation, eWorks is available to its client as a Word specialist for operating questions, any error reports (warranty) and possible extension requests for the Word templates.
